Evoking the myth of the secret garden —a world of poisonous beauty, guarded and forbidden— Nunca supe si estaba sognando stages a dreamlike yet nightmarish setting where pleasure and control collide. Here, the playground is reimagined as a site where discipline, fantasy, and violent histories of extraction intertwine. Marbled chocolate flowers infused with black pepper, cinnamon, paprika and cacao are delicately studded across a monumental steel structure adorned with ornamental spikes, summoning ingredients once trafficked and exoticized that now return as volatile offerings. Inviting the audience to touch, lick, eat, and trespass, the work is activated through play in an intimate act of irreverence; a sensory unlearning of the architectures of control that shape how we inhabit the world.
