All My Life I’ve Been Afraid of Power is an edible installation that dominates the gallery space with columns and architectural fragments which, although appear at first glance as solid pink-veined marble, are made entirely of white chocolate. The installation mimics the language of ruin and monumentality, inviting the audience not only to witness collapse but to participate in the destruction of the pieces, playfully seeking to encourage new ways in which we can challenge, reappropriate, and resignify symbols of power. The title — a confession, a haunted fascination, a vengeful promise — suggests a lifelong intimacy with the weight of power; a fear that is internal, formative, gendered.
