The cat is killing the birds but I love her anyway La Casita, Bogotá
The first of three courthouses in Bogotá was burned during El Bogotazo in 1948, a massive uprising following the assassination of leftist leader Jorge Eliécer Gaitán. This act of destruction marked the beginning of period known as La Violencia. This project is based on the original blueprints for that courthouse, sculpting fragments of one of its domes—a structure that was designed but never built—now rendered as an imagined ruin. Accompanying the fragments are two cyanotype blueprints. The first is a faithful replica of the building’s façade; the second renders the interior hollow and structurally impossible. If built, it would collapse inward—preserving only its facade.
