Monster, Drink to Me is a project that recreates the winged lions housed at the Secretaria do Educacao in Praca da Republica in Sao Paulo in burnt sugar. It focused on the idea of the monster in Latin American architecture, linked to the invasion of America and Brazil as the main sugar producer in the 16th century. Exploring the sociopolitical consequences of sugar monoculture in connection to architecture, colonial history and eating rituals as dramatizations of power, it aims to shine light on intricate power dynamics.
